We are giving away 3 chances to win 2 tickets to the Planked Salmon Supper being held at Queens County Seafest on Sunday Aug 29 at 4pm.
Answer the following 3 questions and you could win 2 tickets for the Planked Salmon Supper sponsored by The True North Salmon Company :
1. How many years has Seafest been going. and
2. Where is Seafest held.
3. How many new things are on offer at Seafest this year, according to our posters or the Queens County Seafest website?
Listen to QCCR on Friday night at 6:30pm as they announce LIVE on QCCR our contest draw, from the QCCR Cole Ford Sales Community Cruiser, at the Queens County Seafest.
Rules:
1. Send your answers via email to info@queenscountyseafest.ca or call them in to the Seafest headquarters at Brooklyn Marina on 902-354-4028, If no answer, you can leave your answers on the message machine.
2. All correct entries will be entered in the draw.
3. The draw will take place at 6:30pm on Friday Aug 27 at Seafest in the entertainment tent.
4. You must be present at the draw in order to collect your tickets. Draws will continue until we have 3 winners present.
5. The contest starts at 12 noon on Friday Aug 20 and ends at 12 noon on Friday Aug 27.
6. Details of the contest can also be found on the Seafest Facebook group (Search Queens County Seafest 2010), at the seafest website onwww.queenscountyseafest.ca or The Pulse website at www.pulseofqueenscounty.com.

Queens County Seafest for 10th Anniversary Festival
Come to the Sea, Have some Fun, Learn & Play
Brooklyn, Queens County, August 27-29, 2010
The 10th Annual Queens County Seafest Community Festival and Fishing Derby , to be held from August 27 to August 29 to be held at Brooklyn Marina, 100 Brooklyn Shore Rd, Brooklyn, Queens County, Nova Scotia.
Genealogy & History of the Local Area
For the 10th Annual Queens County Seafest we are celebrating by offering a book about the history of Brooklyn. This a “Walk Back in TIme (1890-1940). This has been written and published by natives and long time residents of Brooklyn.
Learn about the Land and Sea
Seafest celebrates this years event by offering learning and fun about the sea and land. There will be a canoe making demontstration by Richard MacKinnon, Sustainable Aquaculture by the Auquaculture Associaiton of Nova Scotia and a seminar by the Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute on the Monarch Butterfly.
Music Workshops
We are putting together an event that will help encourage the youth of Queens County to get involved in music or to further their music careers with workshops on songwriting, learning about the music industry with the talents of Amy Grant teaching how to get your music recorded and promoted.
Youth Rocks
Movie night and a dance to be put on for the Youth of Queens County as they are an important part of our community and Seafest takes pride in providing entertainment for all age groups. Events provided both Friday night and Saturday night Teen Dance with
Children’s Entertainment sponsored by OnLine Support... Pirate Bouncy Tent, Face Painting, Clown and Balloon twister, Penny Games
Open Air Crafters Market
Come and see what local community members have to offer for locally made crafts. Always a big hit and a well attended event which will take place all day Saturday. The crafters will be sharing with you the secrets behind doing their crafts.
True North Planked Salmon Supper
An annual event for Seafest is our Planked Salmon Supper. Thanks to our sponsor True North Salmon. This year we have the Greenfield Fire Department cooking the salmon to perfection as they are the experts planking salmon for their own annual supper in Greenfield for many years.
Tickets are now on sale for $15 and the supper will be served starting at 4pm on Sunday Aug 29 at the Marina. If inclement weather the supper will be served inside at the St’ Gregory’s Anglican Church Hall.
The Music
We have a line up of music to play all weekend long. Many local groups and also those native to Nova Scotia, as Seafest promotes music talent along the South Shore.

Music Workshops, Sunday Aug. 29, starting at 1:00 in the Anglican Church Basement,
Amy Grant, Neil Dobson, Kimberly Sinclair and Alex Buchanon share their music industry knowledge through a songwriter’s circle
Food Concession
All your favorites will be served. Fries by the Kinsmen and Burgers by the Kiwanis. Lots of good food at the Marina Canteena as well.
There will be a food booth in The Marina Waterfront Park for all the young people partaking in the kids and youth activities.
Cole Ford Row for Charity
This is a Seafest annual tradition that is not to be missed. 6 member teams will enter a relay type race with 3 people per team in a boat. They are racing to win money for their local Queens County charity. The winning team will receive 50% of the monies net profit for their charity, 2nd will receive 30% and ...3rd will receiv e 20%.There is also a draw which anyone can buy a ticket on for $5 each and you could win an “I Love Queens’ gift package at a value of approx. $500 stuffed with gifts from local businesses around Queens County.

Corvette Show
Do you own a Corvette or do you love cars and are interested in seeing Corvette models through the years? Bring your corvette to the Marina during Seafest and show it off, or come and see all that is on offer. There will be up to 15 Corvettes on show for you to drool over.
Fishing Derby
The Captains meeting will take place on Friday night at 7 pm at the Marina Clubhouse. This year the Commercial fishing boats will leave the docks at approx. 9pm to shark fish, recreational boats to leave in the early AM hours and all boats return with their catch on Saturday afternoon by 5 pm. This is a site to see when these boats pull out of the Marina and even better to see the catches that are brought back.
Sunday will be inshore fishing day and all boats to leave at 5 AM returning no later than 5 PM
Recreational Shark fishing will take place early on Saturday as well as the mackeral and groundfishing on both Saturday and Sunday.

Registration is $35 for all entries. Everyone that registers will receive a registration package and be entered into the Draw. Anyone can register for these draws by registering for the Fishing Derby. No fishing required. You must be registered to have your fish weighed into the derby.

Wednesday Aug 25 Pre registration for QRBA members from 6pm-8pm
Friday 4pm -8pm for
Saturday 5am-10am
Volunteers,
Great way to get involved in the community and meet some new people along with expanding your horizons. Our festival is run by a great volunteer committee, my heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have helped put the event together and those that are coming to volunteer with set-up, the festival days and the post festival tear down. With your help it will be a fun time for everyone. If you would like to volunteer and haven’t yet received a call, it’s not because we don’t want you it’s because we don’t have your number.
